Right-click menu
Context actions on the canvas, selection, and segments.
Right-click (or long-press on touch) on the canvas to open a compact action menu. What you see depends on what is under the pointer — empty sheet, a selection, or a segment.
Opening the menu
- Desktop — right-click on the canvas or on a selected entity.
- Mobile — tap ⋯ on the modal pill while something is selected; it opens the same menu as a canvas right-click.
- Press
Escor click outside to dismiss.
On a selection
With one or more entities selected, the menu lists editing actions. Common entries include duplicate, delete, flip, layer order, offset, and Properties (opens the right-hand panel).
| Command | When it appears | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Close Polyline | A single open polyline with at least three points | Closes the path into a polygon, keeping the same vertices and stroke style. Fill stays off until you enable it. |
| Convert to area measurement | A single closed polygon | Turns the shape into an area measurement: crosshatch fill, area label at the centroid, and scaled readout using the current drawing scale. |
| Duplicate in place as polygon | A single area measurement | Creates a plain polygon copy at the same location (geometry only, no area label). |
| Offset | Polyline, polygon, circle, or ellipse selection | Starts the offset workflow on the selection. |
| Explode Group | A grouped selection | Splits the group into individual entities. |
| Delete Vertex | Right-click on a vertex of the selected entity | Removes that vertex; the neighboring segments merge into one. Requires more than two vertices. |
| Add Vertex | Right-click on a segment of a selected polyline, polygon, or area | Inserts a vertex on the segment at the click point. It stays in line with the segment until you drag it away. |
| Convert Segment to Arc / Line | Right-click on a selected straight or arc segment | Changes only that segment's type. You can also use Shift+A on a straight segment — see Arcs, beziers & segments. |
Close Polyline and Convert to area measurement require exactly one selected entity of the right type. Multi-selections and read-only PDF underlays hide these entries.
On empty canvas
Right-clicking empty space offers Paste when the clipboard has Vellum geometry. With the text select tool, you may also see Search for text or Highlight for the current PDF text selection.
