Drawing scale
Calibrate the document so measurements are accurate.
Before measuring, set the drawing scale so Vellum can convert on-screen distances into real-world dimensions.
Setting the scale
- Open the scale control in the status bar (or the drawing settings in the Properties panel).
- Choose a standard scale such as 1" = 1' or a metric equivalent.
- Or enter a custom scale equation if your drawing uses a non-standard ratio.
Measure accuracy depends on scale
If the scale is wrong, every length and area will be wrong. Confirm the scale against a known dimension on the sheet before relying on measurements.
Once set, the Measure tool and Area tool report real-world values. Configure rounding in Units & precision.
