Fill, hatch & patterns
Fill closed shapes with color, hatching, or patterns.
The Fill section appears in the Properties panel for closed entities — polygons, rectangles, circles, region fills, and similar.
- Enable fill — toggle off for outline-only shapes while keeping the boundary stroke.
- Color — fill swatch; respects the same palette as stroke.
- Fill opacity — separate from stroke opacity so you can outline a hatched area clearly.
- Pattern — solid, hatch, or repeating pattern with angle and spacing where supported.
Open paths (polylines) do not show fill controls until you close them into a polygon.
The Highlight tool and Region fill both use these fill settings while the tool is active (before you click to place). Region fill also exposes Gap tolerance on its dedicated page — that control is separate from fill color and does not appear on already-placed fills.
